While there was already interest among city staff in updating the Coolidge development impact fees, multiple bills in the Legislature are making some concerned about the future.
At the Feb. 23 City Council meeting, Development Services Director James Myers provided a presentation during a public hearing on updating the development impact fees, which are one-time charges imposed on new development projects to fund public infrastructure.
The major changes outlined in the presentation included adjusting fire and police facilities fees to $950 and $750 per square foot respectively, updating the police vehicle inventory to 38 total units, adjusting the replacement cost of patrol and investigations vehicles to $120,000 and $105,000 respectively, adjusting the street improvement construction cost estimate to $2.5 million per lane mile and the wastewater treatment construction cost estimate to $30 per gallon.
