Although crossover week is finished, the House and Senate will spend most of today hearing some of the last bills in Committee of the Whole and third read before those measures head to the opposite chamber.
Here are five issues we are watching this week:
House to take care of unfinished business
After an 18-hour marathon House floor session last week where some measures went unheard, the House will take care of some unfinished business this week. Today’s House floor agenda included several proposed ballot measures for consideration, such as Rep. Justin Wilmeth’s House Concurrent Resolution 2005 (legislative session; adjournment), which would require the Legislature to sine die by April 30 every year. The House will also be voting on Rep. Michael Way’s House Concurrent Resolution 2048 (elected officials; salary; prohibition), which would withhold the salaries of elected statewide officials and legislators if a budget is not signed by April 30.
