The Republican primary for the Arizona Corporation Commission is splitting the Legislature’s GOP caucuses down the middle, with some lawmakers endorsing the incumbent commissioners over their own colleagues.
Reps. David Marshall and Ralph Heap are challenging Commissioners Kevin Thompson and Nick Myers in the July 21 primary, but the lawmakers will do so without the backing of 15 fellow legislators.
Sen. T.J. Shope, David Farnsworth and Vince Leach are throwing their support behind Thompson and Myers, along with half a dozen House Republicans including Reps. Matt Gress and Justin Wilmeth.
