Pinal in sweet spot for health care job growth

By Noah Cullen | Pinal Central

Healthcare jobs in Pinal County are expected to grow at a very fast rate, faster than the already impressive statewide growth, as supply and demand work in tandem during some crucial years.

As the population ages, and as Pinal continues to see a large influx of new residents, jobs in the health care sector are projected to grow by 4.5% annually in the period of 2025 to 2027 — outpacing Arizona’s statewide growth of 2.6%, according to data from the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity. The data is being used by schools, and employment intermediary groups are working together to steer future career paths toward that growth.

Health care was the leading sector both statewide and in Pinal, the county with the highest expected short-term growth. However in the long-term, the growth is expected to cool, bumping health care below the construction and hospitality industries in Pinal. Statewide, health care is also expected to cool, but slightly, and will remain a leading industry in line with construction at 2.6% annual growth from 2024 to 2034.
