Mayor Scott Anderson opened the event at the Gilbert Water Tower Plaza with brief remarks that framed the evening’s theme of balancing present investments with long-term planning. He praised the community’s achievements while emphasizing the work still to come.
“Gilbert is a community of excellence because it’s hard,” Anderson said, recalling President John Kennedy launching America’s moon landing efforts in 1962. “It’s not easy. We have hard things that we have to do. We have hard choices to make, hard actions to take, to be a community of excellence and especially to protect our quality of life.”
The event blended Anderson’s remarks with a produced video featuring council members, town staff and residents, offering a broader look at Gilbert’s priorities and identity.
