Pinal County, AZ — Pinal Partnership today thanked Katie Hobbs and the Arizona Legislature for the passage and signing of HB2098, legislation that authorizes county water augmentation authorities and enables bonding to support critical long-term water supply development.
HB2098 provides counties with a new, locally driven tool to finance and implement water augmentation projects, helping secure reliable water resources to support economic growth, housing, and long-term sustainability across Pinal County and the state.
“Water security is foundational to Arizona’s future, and especially to fast-growing regions like Pinal County,” said Pinal Partnership President & CEo, Craig McFarland. “We are grateful to Governor Hobbs and the Legislature for their leadership in advancing a practical, forward-looking solution that empowers counties to take action and invest in their water future.”
The legislation reflects a collaborative effort among state leaders, local governments, and stakeholders to address Arizona’s ongoing water challenges with innovative and flexible policy tools. By enabling bonding authority tied to water augmentation efforts, HB2098 positions counties to proactively develop new water supplies and infrastructure.
Pinal Partnership also extends its appreciation to the bill sponsors and legislative champions, especially Senator TJ Shope and Representative Gail Griffin, who worked diligently to move HB2098 through the process and secure broad bipartisan support.
“This is a meaningful step forward for Pinal County and for Arizona,” Craig McFarland added. “We look forward to working with partners across the region to support implementation and ensure these new authorities deliver real, lasting impact.”
