Cost of living tops CD6 voters’ concerns as lawmakers weigh rural housing tax credit

A recent poll identified housing and cost of living as the two top issues for voters in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District.

The poll, conducted by Conservatives for America — a group aligned with the Congressional Republican Study Committee — found the competitive district has a split voter registration, with 36% Republicans, 30% Democrats and 33% identifying as other.

Cost of living ranked as the top issue for half of Democrats, 44% of independents and nearly 30% of Republicans surveyed.

A Cornerstone Public Affairs analysis of the survey, conducted on behalf of the Arizona Housing Coalition, found that increasing the housing supply is the most effective message to sway undecided and persuadable voters. Many said they’d consider voting for incumbent U.S. Rep Juan Ciscomani after he identified increasing the housing supply as a top priority. Cornerstone sent the analysis to state lawmakers Tuesday, with budget negotiations still ongoing.
