A popular Scottsdale dining destination known for its French-inspired cuisine, award-winning wine program and lively atmosphere is headed to Gilbert.

The Mick Brasserie plans to open a second Valley location at Higley Commons near the Agritopia area, bringing its contemporary take on the traditional French brasserie to one of the Southeast Valley’s fastest-growing corridors. The restaurant is expected to open during the first quarter of 2027.

The new restaurant will occupy approximately 4,400 square feet plus patio space at 3071 E. Ray Road, becoming one of the signature dining destinations within Higley Commons, a mixed-use development that will include 276 multifamily residences alongside ground-floor retail and restaurant space.

Led by restaurateur John Krause and Chef Brent Menke, The Mick has built a strong following in Scottsdale by combining elevated dining with a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. The concept draws inspiration from art, travel and the experience of gathering around exceptional food and wine.

Its menu pairs classic French brasserie influences with a modern approach, while its Wine Spectator Award-winning wine program features selections from France, across Europe and beyond.

“From the beginning, The Mick was envisioned as a neighborhood gathering place where guests could connect over great food, wine, and hospitality,” Krause and Menke said in a joint statement. “We’ve been incredibly grateful for the support in Scottsdale and are thrilled to become part of the Gilbert community.”

The arrival of The Mick represents another sign of Gilbert’s continued evolution as a dining destination, particularly in the area surrounding Agritopia, which has attracted a growing collection of chef-driven restaurants, retail concepts and mixed-use developments in recent years.

Higley Commons is being developed by Mill Creek Residential of Boca Raton, Florida, as a lifestyle-oriented community featuring upscale apartment living, walkable retail, outdoor gathering spaces and a concierge-inspired residential experience.

The lease transaction bringing The Mick to Gilbert was facilitated by Carol Schillne and Cole Schillne of ORION Investment Real Estate, who represented Essex Hospitality, the restaurant’s ownership group. Mill Creek Residential was represented by Courtney Auther Van Loo and Teale Bloom of Phoenix Commercial Advisors.

“The Mick has cultivated a loyal following in Scottsdale by delivering an exceptional dining experience that goes far beyond the plate,” said Carol Schillne, Senior Vice President with ORION Investment Real Estate. “Its blend of culinary excellence, genuine hospitality, and thoughtfully curated events has made it one of the Valley’s most sought-after dining destinations.”

“Higley Commons presents an incredible opportunity to introduce that same energy and experience to Gilbert,” Schillne added. “We’re proud to help bring a concept with such strong community appeal and customer loyalty into this rapidly growing market.”

When it opens in 2027, The Mick Brasserie will add another notable dining option to Gilbert’s growing culinary scene while serving as a centerpiece restaurant within one of the Southeast Valley’s newest mixed-use developments.
