A group of Arizona progressive Democrats is taking aim at members of their own party, launching a campaign called “No Safe Seats” ahead of the July 21 Democratic primary.
State Sen. Analise Ortiz is one of the driving forces behind the effort, which she described during an interview on Politics Unplugged with political editor Dennis Welch.
“We’re living through one of the most dangerous moments in American history,” Ortiz said. “The gap between the rich and the poor is growing. Trump is actively working to unravel voting rights to target immigrant families, and to strip us of other rights within the Bill of Rights.”
Ortiz said the campaign is a response to Arizona Democrats she believes are enabling a Republican agenda, including votes she says have put the U.S. Constitution at risk.
