An affordable housing apartment building is planned to be built next to Phoenix’s Acacia Library.
The 20-unit apartment building, being referred to as Acacia Affordable Housing, is planned to be built on 0.58 acres north of the library branch, which is northwest of Eighth Street and Townley Avenue.
The property owner, Phoenix-based Footprint Properties LLC, received preliminary site plan approval from the city on July 6.
The Acacia branch opened in 1969. Historical aerial photographs from the Maricopa County Assessor’s Office show the Acacia Affordable Housing property has been vacant since at least 1949.
