New report celebrates Senate Republicans’ legislative accomplishments

Does divided government have to mean divided results?

Not according to Senate Republicans, who said they advanced “one of the most ambitious conservative agendas in state history,” according to their legislative highlights report released this week.

The Republicans cited the tax conformity package included in the state budget as one of their major highlights, along with their efforts to strengthen protections for children and crime victims, defend parents’ rights, improve public safety, confront waste and fraud, secure elections and help protect the border.

They touted the $18.3 billion state budget, which is expected to deliver more than $1.4 billion in tax relief over four years, and eliminate state income taxes on tips and overtime pay. Arizona is the first state to fully adopt President Trump’s federal tax package at the state level.

Hobbs signed a total of 264 bills this year, excluding budget bills, and just 10 of those bills were introduced by Democrats, so Republicans did check off a number of boxes on their to-do list from December.
