Economic uncertainty permeates through downtown Tempe amid COVID

The cloud of economic uncertainty above downtown Tempe continues to hang overhead as the prolonged absence of fans at Arizona State University home football games continues.

The city of Tempe began the year without PAC-12 football to start the season, but later news came a season, would, in fact, be played. However, with the new COVID-19 regulations, which do not allow fans at games, the streets of downtown Tempe once abuzz on game days remain empty — and shops and eateries are without fans to serve.

President and CEO of the Tempe Tourism Office, Brian McCartin, admits the pains of financial realities are hitting home.
