A high-tech startup based in Scottsdale has launched a website that aggregates news content from the Internet and automatically scores each article based on its political spin.
Executives at Stremor Corp., which has developed a proprietary language-evaluation engine, said the company’s politically oriented Unpartial.com site showcases just one of many possible applications for the technology.
Stremor Corp. recently obtained $2 million in seed funding from a private investor who wishes to remain anonymous, company CEO Bill Irvine said.
Unpartial.com aggregates links to political coverage from major news sites including those operated by CNN, ABC News and Fox News. The engine is heuristic, which means it learns as it goes.
For each article, the site displays a headline, the lead paragraph and a group of symbols that are meant to give some indication of the story’s political slant.
