The town of Gilbert is looking at building code changes in response to Arizona voters legalization marijuana for recreational use.
The Gilbert Town Council is being asked to make some changes to the East Valley town’s building code in response to voters approval of Proposition 207 in November.
The legalization measure allows for residents to grow small amounts of marijuana in their homes.
The Gilbert town council is being asked to approve building code changes to limit the amount of chemicals that can be stored at a residence.
It also applies sections of international building and fire codes to help address potential residential marijuana growing.
The item is on the town council’s Jan. 19 agenda.
