Gateway Airport seeking developer for 400-acre parcel

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport is looking to develop a 400-acre parcel near the Loop 2020.

The airport authority that owns and manages the East Valley airport is looking for a master developer for a mixed-use project on the 400-acre parcel.

That project is currently named GatewayEast.

The Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport Authority is issuing a request for qualifications from developers that will be due Jan. 21. A request for proposals is due May 3 and the airport authority hopes to pick a master developer by the end of the year.

Gateway Airport has seen significant development growth though passengers counts are down because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Airport officials briefed the Mesa City Council on economic development efforts at Mesa Gateway on Jan. 14. There is also a virtual event for developers to learn more about this afternoon (Thursday, Jan. 14).
