Tempe City Council has taken initial steps to annex nine parcels — about 17 acres of land total — near north Tempe municipal bounds following a developer request to bring the parcels into city planning limits.
The developer, North Tempe Propco LLC, in conjunction with seven property owners seek to have all parcels within the bounds of East Curry Road to the north, North Miller Road to the east, and East Gilbert Road to the south.
“After evaluation, staff determined that if the city were to move forward with the annexation, it would be in the best interests of the city to include an additional one parcel adjacent to the proposed annexation in the formal annexation,” said Sam Arrowsmith, Tempe assistant city attorney, in his Jan. 28 report to City Council. “As such, the current proposed annexation area includes 10 parcels and the directly adjacent portions of right-of-way.”
