Who wants to be Scottsdale city manager? Pinal official does

Three finalists are vying to be Scottsdale’s next city manager, AP reports.

They are Pinal County Manager Fritz Behring, former Tempe City Manager Charlie Meyer and Tom Wilson, the assistant city manager for development services in Palm Springs, Calif.

After conducting a national search, the city chose the finalists from more than 50 applicants.

The final phase of the selection process will take place May 21-22. The candidates will have one-on-one interviews with city council members and make public presentations to the council.

Councilors could make a decision as soon as May 22.

Last July, City Manager David Richert resigned after two years on the job. At the time, he said he didn’t feel there was enough support from the mayor and councilors for him to be effective.
