FLORENCE — Members of the new nonprofit Gold Canyon Community Inc. asked to work with the Board of Supervisors Wednesday for responsible development of their northern Pinal County community.
A key question for the group is “How do we marry development and conservation?” GCCI board member Jerry Stevenson told the supervisors.
The group is interested in strategic planning, similar to the county’s San Tan Area Plan, he said. “We need to work with planning and zoning and make sure Gold Canyon is a special place and has special rules. Nobody wants to hear that, but somehow we need to go from where we are to reassess development in Gold Canyon.”
