After a year in which many billionaires got richer and their ranks grew to unprecedented numbers, Arizona has one more billionaire than last year for a total of 10 on Forbes magazine’s annual list of the world’s richest people.
Carvana’s biggest shareholder and the founder of used-car retailer DriveTime Automotive, Ernest Garcia II, was the richest Arizonan on the Forbes’ 2021 World’s Billionaires List, coming in at No. 121 in the world with a net worth of $15.9 billion — which grew to $16.7 billion in Forbes’ “real time” calculation as of April 6. Last year Garcia ranked No. 875 on the global list.
