Residential housing permits are surging in Buckeye despite an expected downturn in housing numbers from the start of the pandemic.
Buckeye officials have seen residential permits jump 27% from last year’s numbers and predict a continued upward trend for the rest of 2021.
Homebuilders have been peering at Buckeye land for its low cost and availability, said David Roderique, economic development director for city of Buckeye.
The current population in Buckeye is about 100,000. In five years, Mr. Roderique said, that number could top 150,000, which would close in on other large West Valley cities such as Peoria and Surprise.
