The plan was for Queen Creek to have a park for every 10,000 residents, but the town’s population explosion threw those plans for a loop.
Now the town’s Parks and Recreation Department is hoping Queen Creek’s upcoming budget will include funds for it to continue its plans for more parks as it’s population approaches 62,000, according to the Maricopa Association of Governments.
The department brought up the issue at the council’s Wednesday, April 7 meeting. It was an informational presentation meant to refresh the council on the parks issue. Talks for approving a $487.2 million budget for the next fiscal year take place this spring.
The town manager’s recommended budget was considered by the town’s budget committee on Monday, April 12.
