Scottsdale’s new short-term rental working group, which includes City Council members Linda Milhaven and Betty Janik, is seeking creative solutions from the community at its upcoming May 5 virtual meeting.
The ability for city governments to regulate short-term rental properties was preempted by the Arizona State Legislature in 2016. Although the city’s ability to regulate these properties is severely limited, Scottsdale has convened a community working group to dig into the topic and offer creative solutions for future City Council consideration.
The Scottsdale short-term rental working group includes Council member Milhaven who understands the many problems that have arisen since these properties were made popular through apps like AirBnB and VRBO.
