The Foundation for Senior Living is backing a workforce housing project in Wickenburg that could break ground next spring.
FSL Single Family Housing Director Krista Swartz told people attending the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce quarterly luncheon that her organization acquired three acres of land from Habitat for Humanity off Tegner Street and Palm Drive for the Casa del Sol Subdivision, which will not be age restricted.
“It’s going to be a total of 16 lots, plus a retention area with a playground,” Swartz said. “Habitat has an option to purchase four of the lots back from us once we get the infrastructure improvements in place.”
She said FSL closed on the property in March.
“Right now, we have our civil engineer working on the drawings for the infrastructure improvements, so that will be the next step,” Swartz said. “Hopefully within the next month or so, we’ll be able to go to the Town of Wickenburg with those civil improvements and start making that work out.”
She said FSL is currently moving along on the architectural drawings and meeting with focus groups.
