Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego will meet with President Joe Biden at the White House on Wednesday to build support for a federal infrastructure plan that would funnel billions into road repairs, water infrastructure improvements and more sustainable energy and transportation practices.

Other local leaders in attendance are expected to include the governors of New Jersey, Vermont and Illinois and four other mayors from cities from Ohio to Alabama, according to the White House.

The $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework, as it’s known, would help rebuild and expand roads, rail service, water systems and other physical infrastructure over eight years. Funding has been identified for projects related to green energy, broadband and electrical infrastructure, too.
