Crowd urges Lorefice to stay on as Wickenburg town manager

If the crowd at Monday’s Town Council meeting has its way, Vince Lorefice will remain town manager.

Several members of the crowd – which was the largest at a Council meeting since the capacity limit was lifted as a COVID-19 restriction – carried signs of support for Lorefice, who received a standing ovation at the start of the meeting. The meeting was held for the Council to discuss options of finding Lorefice’s replacement.

Lorefice announced his resignation last week. It will be effective Sept. 17.

“I have been overwhelmed with the community support over the past week since I turned in my resignation,” Lorefice said. “I have received so many emails and phone calls from individuals but I was not expecting so many people in attendance at the Town Council meeting in support of my family and me. The fact that so many people took the time out of their day to take a stand against the vocal minority and for the super majority of residents who truly have Wickenburg’s best interest in heart was quite the sight to see.”
