Two new candidates, a Republican and a Democrat, have filed paperwork to run in 2014 for two seats opening on the board that regulates Arizona utilities.
The Arizona Corporation Commission comprises five statewide elected officials who oversee regulated utilities such as Arizona Public Service Co., Tucson Electric Power Co. and Southwest Gas Corp. The officials also regulate securities, corporations and railroad crossings.
Republican Dwight Jaeger of Prescott filed paperwork to run, while Democrat Nancy LaPlaca of Scottsdale filed paperwork for an exploratory committee.
