In a June letter, Phoenix’s city manager told the Federal Aviation Administration the city would sue the agency again if it does not stick to an agreement stemming from Phoenix’s last lawsuit regarding flight paths departing west out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
The FAA contacted Phoenix in May to ask if the city would consider changes to the agreement. Phoenix City Manager Ed Zuercher’s public letter to the FAA implies the agency was asking for the changes to address a new lawsuit from Scottsdale against the agency.
Both Phoenix’s 2014 lawsuit and Scottsdale’s 2021 lawsuit against the FAA center on concerns of noise and emissions pollution in neighborhoods under flight paths.
