Arizona’s electric vehicle industry has another upstart company looking to make its mark.
Atlis Motor Vehicles next year plans to start producing electric trucks at a warehouse in Mesa. It will provide a lot more space than the founder’s garage.
Since starting at CEO Mark Hanchett’s Mesa house in 2016, Atlis has accelerated its development of a fast-charging battery, prepared a prototype electric truck designed for business fleets and raised more than $20 million from investors, according to the company. It also claims to have logged 60,000 nonbinding reservations for the vehicle.
Atlis’ base electric pickup model is expected to sell for around $45,000 with a range between charging of around 300 miles and the capability to tow up to 35,000 pounds. Other models with longer ranges and additional enhancements could sell for up to $75,000.
The company said it has developed proprietary technology allowing for complete vehicle charging within 15 minutes.
