Tucson under gun again for vaccine mandate

Tucson again faces a possible financial penalty for its vaccine mandate one day after a senator dropped his request to investigate the city.  

Sen. Kelly Townsend, R-Mesa, on December 1 asked the Attorney General’s Office to look into Tucson’s mandate under a 2016 law that not just allows lawmakers to demand an inquiry but forcing the attorney general to investigate within 30 days. The law says if the attorney general finds a local law or policy is contrary to state law, he can order the state treasurer to withhold certain revenue sharing dollars. Townsend believes that the city is violating a section of the law protecting employees from vaccination by using religious accommodation.
