When you appear on local TV news for a while, people feel like they know you.
When you appear on local TV news for a long while, even more do.
A recent interview with Linda Williams, who celebrated her 40th year at Fox 10 in Phoenix on Nov. 23, proved this.
Williams, friendly and professional, like she is on-air, was answering a question about the secret to her longevity in a notoriously turbulent industry.
Then some people walked by and started congratulating her on her anniversary.
“It’s stuff like that — connecting to people who don’t necessarily know you but know your story,” Williams said. “You see them on the street, they’re like, ‘Yay, 40 years.’ I’ve heard that all day from people I don’t know. And it’s fun.”
Williams joined Fox 10 in 1981 as a tape editor. She had worked at KAET, now Arizona PBS.
