New fire stations growing with Surprise

It’s not the birth of a child. But in the world of Surprise Fire-Medical Department Chief Tom Abbott, the opening of a new fire station is a pretty big deal.

“I hate to be cliche about it,” Abbott said. “But it really is a dream come true.”

The Surprise chief was fortunate to see two fire stations born in 2021 — one in the northern part of the city and one to serve the southeast portion.

The ribbon was finally cut on Fire Stations 304 and 308 in a dual ceremony Dec. 14 at the 308 station at 13771 W. Cactus Road.
