Last week was a week for construction projects new and incoming as the city heads into the next fiscal year.

An early morning ceremony kicked off a long-awaited, $3.5 million project last week, as city officials and construction workers flocked to Houser Road Thursday, May 30 for a 7:30 a.m. groundbreaking.

Construction of the Houser Road and Toltec Road water lines and pump station No. 2 expansion will help improve the old, and weak water infrastructure in the area. It will also greatly improve water pressure, something the Eloy Fire Department has been pushing for the last few years.

The project consists of a new booster pump station, a new pipeline along the new Houser Road alignment and new pipeline along Toltec Road between the existing Houser Road intersection and Hunt Drive to the north. There is approximately 4,500 linear feet of new 12-inch waterline and a little over a mile of new 16-inch waterline, City Manager Ruth Osuna explained.
