Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan must let American Oversight attorneys depose him on January 27 or face additional sanctions and a possible civil arrest warrant, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Michael Kemp ordered this week.
The order follows Logan skirting his initial deposition scheduled for January 5 in the public records lawsuit brought by the liberal watchdog group regarding the Senate’s review of the 2020 general election results in Maricopa County. Kemp ordered that Cyber Ninjas pay American Oversight $1,000 for not showing up.
It also comes as Cyber Ninjas racks up hundreds of thousands of dollars in other fines. The Senate contractor continues to refuse to produce records it has been ordered to release, incurring an additional $50,000 fine each business day since January 6. The fines, totaling $450,000 so far, were imposed by the judge in a similar public records lawsuit brought by The Arizona Republic.
During a January 6 hearing, an attorney for The Arizona Republic said the newspaper has received approximately 300 records, mostly emails, from the contractor, as well as thousands of pages of tally sheets. The number of undisclosed relevant records in Cyber Ninjas’ possession is unclear – the contractor’s attorney has estimated as many as 60,000 records would need to be reviewed.
