CASA GRANDE — For 40 years, Air Products & Chemicals has run a chemical manufacturing plant in Chandler, producing nitrogen, oxygen and argon. Now they are looking to expand into Casa Grande.
At the Thursday’s planning and zoning meeting, the city will hear a proposal for a 40-acre site in the industrial western portion of the city, located near the Lucid Motors manufacturing plant. It would be built along the south side of Peters Road between Ethington and Burris Roads. Once in operation, it could employ between 50 and 100.
“Hydrogen fuel significantly reduces air emissions as its use as a transportation fuel grows and offsets traditional petroleum-based fuels,” a statement by the company for the meeting reads. “This proposed facility in Casa Grande will enable Air Products to supply low CI (chemical ionization) hydrogen to power cars, buses and trucks throughout the Southwest.”
