Arizona to stop daily COVID-19 data reporting, switch to weekly updates

By Stephanie Innes | Arizona Republic

After nearly two years of providing daily COVID-19 data reports, health officials in Arizona plan to switch to weekly updates.

Saturday, Feb. 26 will be the final day of daily reporting on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard, officials with the Arizona Department of Health Services announced Friday in an emailed blog post written by state COVID-19 adviser Dr. Richard Carmona and signed by clinical leaders of major Arizona hospitals and health systems.

“Changing such a widely used resource isn’t something to be done lightly,” Carmona wrote. “But now, with all COVID-19 metrics steadily declining and many other states doing the same, I join with the hospital representatives below in sharing that it’s the right time for a change.”

Weekly reports will be released on Wednesdays. The first will come March 2, which is two years to the day from when the state first began its daily COVID-19 data reporting.
