The Goodyear City Council on Tuesday unanimously appointed Patrick Bray to fill a council vacancy.
The vacancy comes as Councilmember Joe Pizzillo was appointed mayor to finish the term of Georgia Lord, who died in December.
The council interviewed five candidates in a closed door session.
Bray was chosen out of a pool of 23 candidates who submitted applications for consideration.
“I spent nine years on Planning and Zoning Commission. I think the leadership there sets a nice stage to possibly fill a role on council,” Bray said after his interview.
Bray served as planning commission chair.
“He’s very familiar with a lot of the issues we are dealing with today,” Pizzillo said. It’s one of the reasons Pizzillo thought Bray would be a good fit on the city council.
