A downtown Glendale mainstay could get a refresh aimed at improving traffic flow and efficiencies.
Pete’s Fish & Chips is looking to improve its longtime location at Glendale Avenue and 55th Drive.
Restaurant owner Steve Garday and Michael Prefling of Prefling Engineering have requested a conditional use permit for expanding the drive-thru at the quick-serve restaurant.
Plans also call for a new water and ice kiosk.
A main goal of the project is to divert restaurant traffic that backs up on Glendale Avenue, according to plans filed with the City of Glendale.
“The drive-thru currently takes access along Glendale Avenue. Three new access points are proposed off 55th Avenue. One driveway is proposed to reroute one lane of drive-thru traffic and to provide access to additional parking and a water kiosk. Two access points are proposed to provide access to a new parking lot. The access point off Glendale Avenue will be gated to provide for limited use for delivery and emergency vehicles only. The hours of operation for the drive-thru are, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.,” according to city documents.
Glendale has long sought to bring more events and businesses, including restaurants, to its downtown area.
