A development deal is underway that would lead one of Arizona’s early farm families to eventually pull up stakes along the Glendale-Peoria border.
That’s been the story for years. The Hickman’s moved their egg farm from Glendale in the early 2000s, eventually landing in Tonopah and other points further west.
The Pendergast family sold much of their dairy farm to make way for State Farm Stadium around the same time.
The Rovey family, just a bit further north off Northern Avenue stayed longer, watching development grow around their dairy farm. Now, they are working with developers on a plan for the nearly 80-year-old family farm to recede as a project called Legacy Point grows.
