Republican leaders in the Arizona Senate are considering additional sanctions against Sen. Wendy Rogers after she used the censure vote they took one day prior as the basis for a fundraising appeal to her followers.
In a email fundraising blast, Rogers seeks donations of up to $5,300 to “fight back” against her colleagues.
“(M)y work has angered some,” she wrote. “And they decided to carry out a shock political hit job on me today — to try and silence me!”
The email, apparently written hours after Tuesday’s 24-3 censure vote, landed in inboxes Wednesday afternoon as the political fallout for Rogers, R-Flagstaff, continued.
Senate President Karen Fann said late Wednesday that she plans to talk to Senate leadership Thursday about possible further sanctions. Fann, R-Prescott, had considered removing Rogers from her committee assignments, but that action wasn’t taken.
