California homebuilder buys in West Valley

Irvine, California-based The New Home Company Inc. paid $21.33 million for land in Surprise, positioning itself for new growth in the area spurred by a massive semiconductor plant being built in north Phoenix.

Plans call for building 667 homes north of Sun Valley Parkway on the west side of 219th Avenue in Surprise, with homes ranging between 1,600 and 3,800 square feet, said Christopher Cady, president of the Arizona division for The New Home Co. (NYSE: NWHM).
