The Chandler Planning & Zoning Commission will consider plans to annex 8.7 acres of unincorporated farmland and rezone the parcel for a new residential development.
The land is at the southeast corner of Chandler Heights Road and 124th Street in the East Valley.
Scottsdale-based Keystone Homes has submitted rezoning and preliminary plans for a 22-lot development called Hazelwood.
The City of Chandler is being asked to annex the county land and then rezone it from agricultural use to Planned Area Development (PAD) for single-family residential.
Preliminary development and plat plans have also been submitted with the city. Chandler’s zoning board will consider the plans at its March 16 meeting.
Plans call for single family homes ranging between 2,752 square feet to 3,331 square feet, according to plans submitted with the city. The development will be gated.
Some residents have voiced concerns about the impacts of traffic. The unincorporated land is currently zoned for farming and is home to a single residence and some agricultural structures.
