The Town of Wickenburg continues to see growth in tax and development fee revenues while keeping spending within its budget, and if all goes well it will finish the fiscal year money-ahead.
Giving Town Council their requested update of the General Fund for fiscal year 2021-2022, Town of Wickenburg Finance Director Stephanie Wojcik shared what she sees as “good news” this past Monday, March 21. Due to an increase in sales taxes collected, primarily from retail and construction, revenues are exceeding expenses by over $3 million as of Feb. 28. “The expenses, for the most part, we have just been holding them steady,” said Wojcik.
“Staff is staying within their budget limits, and it looks like everything is going well.” The largest source of the revenues is the local sales tax which, on February 28, was already at 86% of the total budgeted for the fiscal year (which ends June 31). Revenues from property tax, though not as large of a slice of the overall pie as local sales tax, also show promising results according to the finance director.
