Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego praised the city’s economic wins during the pandemic, the cadre of growing industries in the region and the arrival of new companies at her first live state of the city address since 2019.
“Combined with a recession, national and world politics, and a host of additional challenges, the last two years have become one of the most significant pivot points in the history of Phoenix,” Gallego said Friday in front of a packed house at the Phoenix Convention Center. Due to the pandemic, Gallego held a virtual state of the city address in 2020 and held a question-and-answer session instead in 2021 with the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.
