The City of Phoenix is looking at allowing electric scooters beyond the downtown core moving forward with issuing a request for proposals (RFP) for micro-mobility transportation offerings such as bicycles and scooters.
The Phoenix City Council’s Transportation, Infrastructure and Planning Subcommittee will be briefed on micro-mobility efforts at its April 20 meeting.
The city is looking to solicit new ideas to help residents and visitors get around town.
City officials are also looking at whether and how to expand the electric scooter program that is allowed in the downtown area.
A proposal by city staff could expand the e-scooters program to areas along Metro light rail — including the new line being built in south Phoenix.
