The game should be over for the Diamondback bonehead

I love baseball and I love the Arizona Diamondbacks. I, nevertheless, am in camp with those who are throwing pitcher Ian Kennedy under the team bus for his dangerous actions Tuesday night against Los Angeles Dodger batters.

Kennedy, who two years ago was in the running for a Cy Young, beaned rookie phenom Yasiel Puig. The pitch wasn’t just a little “chin music,” it hit Puig smack in the face. Later, Kennedy knocked the batting helmet off pitcher Zack Greinke.

The Diamondbacks’ alibi: Kennedy was merely retaliating for Greinke hitting “Miggy” Montero earlier in the game. Probably so, but you don’t issue a payback in the face.

It was reported a baseball thrown at 92 mpg has the same velocity of a bullet fired from a .22 gun.

Almost as upsetting was watching Diamondback coach Matt Williams and Skipper Kirk Gibson grabbing and jawing with Dodger pitching coach Mark McWire and LA manager Don Mattingly throwing down D-Back coach Alan Trammell.

Kennedy has had a lousy year, yet he is often seen laughing it up in the dugout when he’s out of the rotation. He better grow up before he takes his teammates and coaches to further suspensions.

“In a sense, I am personally relieved the game is over,” concluded Dodger radio announcer Vin Scully.
