CASA GRANDE — Mayor Craig McFarland has told PinalCentral after a whirlwind visit to Washington, D.C. last week there is strong support from the Arizona congressional delegation for a $300 million grant for widening Interstate 10.
McFarland said he makes a trip to the nation’s capital every two years as part of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council to speak with officials from the federal government about a range of issues. He said the timing on this year’s trip worked out well, as it was only days after Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey signed a bill authorizing $400 million to widen Interstate 10.
Now, they need what is being referred to as a mega-rant from the bipartisan infrastructure bill to get closer to the estimated $1 billion needed to widen the interstate between Casa Grande and Chandler.
