FLORENCE — A proposal to build a “high-end” covered facility with room to store 700 RVs near the northwest corner of Hunt Highway and Merrill Ranch Parkway was rejected Monday by the Town Council.
The Planning and Zoning Commission last month voted 3-2 to recommend disapproval. On Monday the council heard from approximately 10 neighbors, with most of them saying it’s not the highest and best use of the land, and the town needs other developments more. A Sun City man said people need jobs and youths need things to do.
Jay Curl, however, told the council that it’s hard to find covered RV storage and waiting lists are long. He said the business would be nice looking and kept up.
