County approves large developments near Maricopa, San Tan Valley

By Mark Cowling | Pinal Central

FLORENCE — Rezonings and other approvals for two master-planned communities — 100 acres in San Tan Valley and 704 acres south of the city of Maricopa — were approved Wednesday by the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.

Borgata at San Tan will be along Hunt Highway, 1,100 feet southeast of the intersection of Hunt Highway and Thompson Road. It is to include 663 apartments, condominiums and single-family homes, plus a commercial area.

Landowners are Borgata Ventures LLC and SkyHi Holdings LLC. Greg Davis with Iplan Consulting told the board there will be some two-story townhouses, but all the other dwellings will be one-story.
“As both a residential project and a commercial proposal, new residents will support existing and planned commercial development and each new additional resident will create demand for additional local-serving retail,” according to a county staff report to the board.
