FLORENCE — New goals and policies to help future housing development live in harmony with nearby military training sites were among three major updates presented to the Pinal County Board of Supervisors Wednesday.
The board took no action and is not expected to hold public hearings or vote on these plan updates until October.
The Rittenhouse Training Site, 6 miles east of downtown Queen Creek, generates the most citizen complaints, Pinal Senior Planner Gilbert Olgin told the board.
Sustaining the missions at all four Arizona Army National Guard sites is “an overarching goal of Pinal County,” according a county staff report. Pinal sponsored and administered a grant to complete a Joint Land Use Study to identify noise and other compatibility issues between the bases and their adjacent communities and adopted the study in 2017.
