Bigger plans for small Old Town building

Plans have been filed in Scottsdale for the redevelopment of an Old Town office building.

Astria & Associates Realty has submitted plans to redevelop a small office building near First Avenue and Scottsdale Road into a larger project with three housing units.

The current one-story building at 7121 E 1st Avenue totals 1,221 square feet. Plans call for a new 6,454-square-foot building with three stories.

The first floor will have 2,404 square feet of office space. The second floor will have 2,200 square for two 1-bedroom apartment units. There will be an 1,850-square-foot two-bedroom unit on the third floor, according to plans filed with the City of Scottsdale.

The real estate firm is asking the city for site plan approvals for the redevelopment.

“The existing office building was constructed approximately 40 years ago, and first served as a beauty salon and related uses prior to becoming the real estate office for Astria Wong (as Astria & Associates), who has been at this location for over 30+ years. Her success has caused her to try to accomplish a long-standing dream of expanding the existing office and including her own residence,” according to the developer’s submission to the city.
